Athletic News! Big Red Recap: The MS basketball teams were all in action on Wednesday night as they all took on Lucas in non-conference action. The MS girls hosted the Cubs and came away with a convincing win for the 2nd night in a row. They will be back in action on Saturday when they host Western Reserve for their final game before the holiday break. The MS boys traveled to Lucas and came away with a split with the Cubs. The 7th grade picked up a 44-30 win while the 8th grade lost. Both teams will be right back in action tonight getting back into league play by hosting Crestview. Reminder, that tonight's 8th grade game will be only 2 quarters due to low numbers for Crestview. The Freshman boys were also in action as they traveled to New London and came away with their 2nd win in a row improving to 2-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play. They will be back in action on Monday next week at Crestview.

Athletic News! Big Red Weekend Recap: It was a busy weekend for the Big Red as the heart of the winter sports season has set in and many of our teams were in action over the weekend. It all started on a positive note on Friday night as the JV and Varsity boys basketball teams hosted backyard rival South Central in firelands conference play and came away with a sweep of the Trojans as the JV team picked up their first win of the season. The Varsity followed suit as they got out to a fast start and would lead from start to finish en route to the 59-45 win over the Trojans. The win improved them to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in conference play. Both teams then were right back in action on Saturday night as they traveled to Mansfield Christian. The JV team capped off a good weekend as they picked up another win to go 2-0 on the weekend. The Varsity fell behind early to the Flames and trailed 16-2 after the 1st quarter but would come storming back during the 2nd and 3rd quarters to make it a back and forth battle in the 4th quarter. The Big Red would take a late lead before the Flames would tie it up at the buzzer to force overtime and eventually win in overtime by a score of 60-57. The Big Red drop to 2-3 overall and will be back in action on Thursday at Mapleton. The MS basketball teams were all in action on Saturday morning taking on St. Paul. The girls hosted the Flyers and lost a close four point game while the boys traveled to St. Paul and both 7th and 8th grade teams also suffered losses to the Flyers. The girls will be back in action on Tuesday traveling to Crestview while the boys will next be in action on Wednesday traveling to Lucas. The Varsity girls were also in action on Saturday as they hosted Monroeville in a varsity only conference matchup. They struggled to find their offensive flow early in the game and would trail the Eagles by a 32-10 score at halftime. They came out in the 2nd half determined to fight and get back in the game and came storming back during a flurry of scoring in the 3rd quarter. They would cut the deficit to 34-28 before the Eagles would stop the run and eventually pull away for the 54-35 win over the Lady Big Red. They drop to 1-6 overall and 1-3 in conference play and will host New London on Friday night this week. The Varsity wrestling team traveled to the Clear Fork Invitational on Saturday and came away with a 9th place team finish. The major highlight on the day was Noah Robinson who earned his 100th career win with a pin on his way to a 2nd place finish on Saturday which led the Big Red. Lucas Distl and Isaiah Miller would both add 3rd place finishes while Hunter McClure and Ben Trimmer would each take 5th place on the day. The Big Red will next be in action on the 27th and 28th when they travel to the annual Marion Harding Invite.
